KTR and Kavitha Question Rahul Gandhis Silence on Police Brutality in Telangana

Hyderabad, August 22: K.T. Rama Rao, the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and K. Kavitha, a leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), have criticized Congress for its alleged “double standards.” They questioned Rahul Gandhi‘s silence regarding police brutality against protesting students in Telangana.

On social media platform X, BRS leader KTR asked Rahul Gandhi if he would stage a protest at the residence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against the police’s actions against the students.

KTR’s remarks came in response to Gandhi’s recent protest at the Parliament Street police station, where he demanded an FIR against police brutality against a student during a demonstration in the national capital.

He stated, “India has two faces! One where the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi protests against police action on students and delivers passionate speeches in their support. And then there is this situation! In Telangana, police charged at students, choked them, dragged them, and kicked them.”

KTR further questioned if this India exists in a parallel universe where constitutional rules do not apply. “Will you also protest at Revanth Reddy’s Jubilee Hills Palace? Or are our Telangana students neglected because your Congress party has endorsed the police’s actions here?”

Kavitha also raised concerns about Rahul Gandhi’s silence on police brutality against the protesting students in Telangana.

She asked, “Mr. Rahul Gandhi, when you are quick to file an FIR against police actions in Delhi, why are you completely silent about the police brutality in Telangana? You called it brutality. Well, you should have said something. Look at Mahbubnagar. On August 19, a police inspector under your Congress government was caught on camera assaulting polytechnic students while they were peacefully protesting. Videos of the students in distress are everywhere. Where was your outrage then?”
