Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde has voiced strong criticism regarding a recent incident at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Echoes of Students” event. He condemned the mocking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother by a comedian associated with the Youth Congress.
Speaking in Mumbai, Hegde expressed his disapproval, stating, “It is unacceptable to make fun of any mother, regardless of who she is. Prime Minister Modi’s gesture of offering a seat to an elderly woman at a rally reflects his respect for senior citizens.”
He added that the comedian’s actions on Rahul Gandhi’s stage were disrespectful to all women and the elderly. Hegde insisted that more sensitivity should be shown during such events, suggesting that if the comedian cannot respect the elderly, he should not be invited.
On the topic of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, Hegde remarked on Congress’s declining performance, noting that the party has historically struggled in these contests. He claimed that many attendees at the “Echoes of Students” event alleged it was a staged gathering, and he pointed out that Congress suffered a significant defeat in the student elections, indicating that the younger generation is not aligned with Rahul Gandhi.
In addition to his comments on the event, Hegde expressed sorrow over two tragic incidents in Mumbai. He reported that an 8-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman died due to an electric shock near the Ganapati festival, while a 12-year-old girl remains in critical condition. He also mentioned a separate BMW accident on Coastal Road that resulted in three fatalities. Hegde stated that the police are investigating both incidents and promised to disclose any findings that emerge from their inquiries.
