Lucknow, April 20: Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has targeted the Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC, and DMK following the failure of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament. He accused these parties of committing atrocities against half of the country’s population—women.
In a conversation in Lucknow, Maurya highlighted that after 75 years of independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government took a historic step by proposing 33% reservation for women. However, he claimed that the India alliance has deprived women of their rightful share.
Maurya warned that those opposing women’s rights face a bleak political future. He stated that the Samajwadi Party will face consequences in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, while the Congress will suffer in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
He emphasized that the ongoing public outrage march is just the beginning. “This is a long battle. We will take this fight to every booth and reach every mother and sister, exposing the wrongdoings of the Samajwadi Party and Congress,” he said.
Maurya also criticized Akhilesh Yadav, stating that the SP leader has fallen into Rahul Gandhi’s traps. He asserted that Yadav will never become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, just as Rahul Gandhi will never become Prime Minister. “Those who clash with half the population will lose their political existence. Akhilesh Yadav will face reckoning in 2027,” he added.
He labeled the India alliance as anti-women and pledged to spread this message widely. Maurya noted that the TMC will be taught a lesson in the West Bengal elections, while women in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will hold Akhilesh Yadav and DMK accountable.
Additionally, the UP BJP plans to hold a public outrage rally, which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend, expecting a significant turnout of women.
Meanwhile, UP BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary stated that the opposition’s resistance to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act proves that for them, women’s empowerment is merely a façade. In contrast, he affirmed that the BJP government is committed to development led by women. He criticized the opposition for being stuck in patriarchal and narrow-minded thinking, asserting their dedication to honoring women’s rights and empowerment.
