Fair Elections Essential in West Bengal: Agnimitra Paul

Asansol, April 20: In the midst of the assembly elections in West Bengal, claims have emerged that the I-PAC company has halted its operations. BJP leader Agnimitra Paul stated that the assertion of all I-PAC offices being closed is merely a façade.

Speaking in Asansol, Paul emphasized that while some offices may appear shut, this is not the complete truth. He noted that due to strict actions from the Election Commission, the addresses of these offices might change, but I-PAC is very much operational. He alleged that under the guise of I-PAC, illegal activities involving the distribution of alcohol and money are taking place.

Paul insisted that elections must be conducted fairly. He warned that any attempts to influence the electoral process this time would not be tolerated.

The BJP leader criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party for opposing women’s reservation. He claimed that from the outset, they have been against women’s rights.

Referencing crimes against women under the TMC government, Paul pointed to the Park Street rape case, where CM Banerjee questioned the character of the victim. He also mentioned the Kamduni and Hasnabad rape cases, where women were blamed for the incidents. In the Durgapur case, he questioned why a woman was out after 8 PM.

Agnimitra Paul declared that the 1.4 billion Indians now recognize which party is anti-women. He criticized the Congress for its alliance in Delhi while pretending to fight in West Bengal, calling it nonsense. He asserted that women will respond through the EVMs.

He mocked the TMC’s Lakshmi Bhandar scheme, stating that empowering women cannot be achieved with a mere 1,500 rupees. He highlighted TMC’s opposition to women’s reservation, which would allow women to advance in the assembly and parliament.

Paul accused the TMC of double standards, claiming that when the BJP wins, there are allegations of EVM tampering, but when TMC or Congress wins in Jharkhand or Karnataka, everything is deemed fine. He described this as TMC’s hypocrisy, which he believes will not last long.

Regarding the delimitation process, he mentioned that changes in Lok Sabha seats are necessary due to population growth. He pointed out that areas that once had 1,000 voters now have 5,000, necessitating adjustments in representation.
