Sapa MP Avadhesh Prasad Challenges BJPs 2027 Election Prospects

Lucknow, April 20: Sapa MP Avadhesh Prasad has issued a bold challenge regarding the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He stated that if the BJP manages to win even 50 seats in the election, he will exit politics altogether.

In a conversation in Lucknow, Prasad expressed confidence that the BJP will not even realize they once held power in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized, “If the BJP secures 50 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, I will leave politics.”

Prasad criticized the BJP for their derogatory posters targeting Sapa chief Akhilesh Yadav, labeling it as petty politics. He remarked that this reflects the BJP’s ideology. He questioned why the chair Akhilesh Yadav occupied was not cleansed with Ganga water if they truly believed in their claims. He dismissed allegations against Azam Khan, such as book theft and chicken theft, as indicative of a narrow mindset that the public has recognized.

The Sapa MP asserted that the BJP has no intention of providing reservation for women. He described the situation in Parliament as a political game for the BJP, which resulted in a significant defeat for them.

Regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, Prasad noted that it was unanimously passed in 2023, with no opposition from either the ruling party or the opposition. He questioned why it has not been implemented yet.

He accused the BJP of having a “my way or the highway” mentality. Prasad claimed they were aware the bill would not pass, as papers began circulating immediately after their defeat in the House. He highlighted that while it takes time to print papers, the BJP’s women workers had already made arrangements. If the amendment bill passes, they will take credit; if it fails, they will blame the opposition.

Prasad alleged that there was a conspiracy to undermine the rights of backward classes and Scheduled Tribes under the guise of the bill, which opposition parties had already anticipated.

He reaffirmed that the Sapa stands firmly for the respect and safety of women. He mentioned that their leader, Akhilesh Yadav, is a proponent of women’s reservation. He cited the late Mulayam Singh Yadav’s respect for women, noting that it was during the Sapa government that women were first granted reservation in Panchayat elections.

In response to Minister O.P. Rajbhar’s statements, Prasad remarked that the individual in question holds no significance. He pointed out that in the party Rajbhar has joined, he also lacks importance. He has no influence within the party, the government, or even in his own constituency, as he could not even secure a win for his son.
