Kerala Man Arrested for Fraudulently Promising Foreign Visas

Thiruvananthapuram, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Malayalapuzha police in Thiruvananthapuram have arrested a man accused of defrauding victims by falsely promising them visas to foreign countries. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Remo Savio Koria, was apprehended near Ernakulam Law College on Market Road.

Koria is alleged to have scammed numerous individuals across Kerala by offering visas and job placements in Canada, Australia, and various European nations. Multiple complaints have been filed against him at several police stations, including those in Kelakam (Kannur), Mala (Thiruvananthapuram), Haripad, Ernakulam South, Puthenvelikkara, and Ernakulam Town North.

One notable case involves a young man from Malayalapuzha, who paid Koria ₹325,000 for a work visa to Canada in December 2022. However, Koria failed to deliver the visa or the promised job. After realizing he had been scammed, the victim lodged a complaint with the Malayalapuzha police station, citing the lack of a visa or refund.

Upon learning about the investigation, Koria attempted to evade capture by hiding in various locations. After extensive searches, the Malayalapuzha police successfully tracked him down and arrested him in Ernakulam. He was taken into custody by a team led by Sub-Inspector Shan NS, along with SCP D’Cruz and CPOs Shrijit Prakash and Gopakumar. Following his arrest, Koria was presented in court and remanded to custody.
