Muslim Leaders Reject Uniform Civil Code, Cite Cultural Diversity

Bareilly, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : In Bareilly, Muslim leaders have voiced strong objections to the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which the central government plans to implement in BJP-ruled states. Home Minister Amit Shah has advocated for the UCC, but local religious figures firmly reject it.

Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilly responded to Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary‘s statements, asserting that political leaders speak from their party’s perspective. He emphasized that Indian Muslims have long made it clear that the UCC represents an intrusion into Sharia law, which they cannot accept.

Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahli also criticized the UCC, stating that it would not benefit the country. He pointed out that when the Constitution was drafted, the UCC was not included as an essential part, acknowledging the diverse cultures, languages, and customs that vary across India. He argued that imposing a uniform code in such a diverse nation is impractical.

Additionally, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilly condemned Masood Azhar, labeling him as India’s most wanted terrorist. He suggested that the penalties imposed by Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Azhar should be increased, highlighting Azhar’s ongoing involvement in activities against India. He reiterated that terrorism should not be associated with any single religion, describing it as a disease that must be eradicated.
