Kenyan Defense Chief Praises Indian Navys World-Class Training

New Delhi, June 5: India’s military training system has once again received significant international acclaim. General Charles Kahariri, the Chief of the Kenya Defense Forces, reflected on his training at the Indian Navy’s Navigation and Direction School in Kochi, describing it as a “world-class learning experience.”

General Kahariri stated that the training he received in India was crucial for his military career and leadership development. According to the Indian Navy, the longstanding defense training exchanges, professional cooperation, and strong public relations between India and Kenya continue to elevate the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The Southern Naval Command in Kochi has long been a key center for training both Indian and foreign military officials. The training provided by India to military officers from friendly nations not only enhances military skills but also strengthens mutual trust, cooperation, and regional security.

General Kahariri’s remarks are seen as a testament to the excellence and global reputation of Indian military institutions.

Notably, on May 28, the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala held a grand Passing Out Parade (POP) for the Spring Term 2026. A total of 311 trainees, including 66 female cadets, completed their initial military training and graduated from the academy.

Among the graduating class were six foreign trainees from Seychelles, Tanzania, and Vietnam, including two female trainees from Seychelles. This reflects the growing international collaboration and global reach of the Indian Naval Academy.

Following the parade, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Commandant of INA, and other dignitaries presented the passing-out trainees with their Sub Lieutenant rank stripes. A dialogue was also held with the newly commissioned officers and their families.

During the ceremony, outstanding trainees were awarded various medals and trophies. Midshipman Kuldeep Singh received the President’s Gold Medal for securing the top position in the 110th Indian Naval Academy Course, while Midshipman Nguyen Van Hau from Vietnam was awarded the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South) Trophy for being the best foreign trainee.
