Bengaluru, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara held a video conference with district deputy commissioners on Wednesday to emphasize the importance of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the Election Commission of India. He instructed officials to ensure that individuals who have moved for various reasons do not have their names removed from the voter list.
During the meeting, Parameshwara noted that the mapping of 4.381 million voters across the state is still incomplete. He highlighted that notices have been issued to address discrepancies in names and other issues related to the voter list. Officials were directed to ensure that no eligible voter is excluded from the list.
Parameshwara stressed the need for timely issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) and urged officials to focus on Form 6. He expressed concern that voters who have lived away from their original locations for years might be at risk of being left off the voter list, a situation that must be avoided.
He also instructed officials to record essential information about individuals who have relocated during the SIR process. Additionally, Parameshwara called for expedited registration of the “Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangh,” a key initiative by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He urged officials to streamline the registration process, mentor appointments, and the establishment of organizations, which had stalled due to technical issues.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the “Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangh” program is being implemented for the first time in the country, aiming to enhance government and official recognition. He further directed officials to expedite the processing of applications received under the “Praja Seva Abhiyan,” particularly those related to the Revenue Department.
Addressing issues related to RTC improvements, pension problems, and other revenue-related applications, he insisted on swift resolutions. He noted that procedures concerning RTC and Fodi matters have been simplified, and officials should consult senior authorities if they encounter difficulties.
Parameshwara also reminded officials not to overlook the program for providing land to impoverished families for housing. He stated that the initiative has received positive public feedback and should be taken seriously. Some districts have yet to complete land identification, and he urged that this work be finalized by the end of the month, with no negligence allowed. Senior officials will provide technical assistance.
The meeting included several key officials, such as R.K. Kataria, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department, Manoj Kumar Meena, Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, and Meena Nagaraj, Revenue Commissioner, among others.
It is noteworthy that the Election Commission of India recently removed over 10.7 million names from the draft voter list in Karnataka under the “Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Deceased, and Others” (ASDDO) category, which constitutes approximately 19.5 percent of the total voters. Additionally, 4.38 million voters were identified for notice issuance due to discrepancies, raising significant public concern and political activity.
