Bengaluru, July 20: Karnataka Congress President B.K. Hariprasad launched a strong attack on the BJP-led central government on Sunday, accusing it of being complicit in the alleged exam paper leak cases across the country. He claimed that the government is jeopardizing the futures of millions of students and called for an independent national investigation overseen by a retired Supreme Court judge.
Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, Hariprasad referenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘Students’ Voice’ event held in Kota, a major educational hub in India. The event focused on student suicides and measures to boost student morale.
Citing Rahul Gandhi’s statements, Hariprasad alleged that between 2014 and 2026, there have been 152 instances of exam result leaks across India. He pointed out that most of these incidents occurred in BJP-ruled states and raised questions about those who benefited from these leaks.
He emphasized that the issue of leaked question papers extends beyond mere examinations. It has become a significant concern for the credibility of India’s entire education system. Students and their families invest years of hard work, sacrifice, and financial resources. When exam papers are leaked, it shatters their aspirations.
Hariprasad accused police in states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat of recovering leaked question papers linked to individuals associated with BJP leaders. However, he did not present any specific evidence during the press conference.
He noted that since independence, India has seen remarkable growth in literacy rates and higher education infrastructure, with institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, and AIIMS symbolizing the country’s investment in education.
He reiterated that education is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution. The repeated leaks of question papers represent a direct attack on the future of Indian children and the credibility of our educational institutions.
Drawing a parallel with the Karnataka PSI recruitment exam scam, Hariprasad recalled that cases were filed against those opposing irregularities, but courts have recently dismissed those cases.
