BJP Leaders File Complaint Against Abhishek Banerjee in West Bengal

Kolkata, July 20: BJP leader Abhijit Das, also known as Bobby, lodged a complaint against Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee at the Nodalkhali police station in South 24 Parganas on Sunday. He accused Banerjee of corruption in the distribution of financial compensation following Cyclone Amphan in 2020.
Das alleged that approximately ₹30 crore was embezzled through fake documents in the Baj Baj-II block. He claimed that most of the funds provided by the central government to the victims of Cyclone Amphan did not reach the intended beneficiaries.
According to him, applications were submitted under different names using the same number or address, and funds were distributed based on these applications. He further stated that this led to the embezzlement of around ₹30 crore, which was allegedly deposited into fake accounts on Abhishek’s recommendation.
A complaint has also been filed against the then BDO of that block and several other administrative officials. Das claimed that Abhishek was involved in ₹250 crore worth of corruption in the distribution of financial aid following Cyclone Amphan.
In a separate incident, another complaint was filed against Abhishek Banerjee at the Bishnupur police station in the same district for making threats. This complaint was lodged by BJP leader Abhijit Sardar, who was the party’s candidate for that constituency in the 2026 assembly elections.
This complaint was a response to comments made by Abhishek on Saturday regarding the demolition of his party office in Amtala. The Diamond Harbour MP alleged that not only the administration but also BJP leaders were “rallying” against his office.
He then ominously stated that under the same law and section that led to the demolition of the Trinamool party office, when the government changes in the state, not a single BJP party office will remain in West Bengal.
