Uttar Pradesh Aims for $1 Trillion Economy with Singaporean Investment Partnerships
CM Yogi Adityanath seeks to transform Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy through collaboration with Singaporean investors.

Lucknow, October 28 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is accelerating efforts to transform Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy by fostering international investment. During a recent meeting with a high-level delegation from the Singapore Business Federation, discussions focused on potential partnerships in industrial development, logistics, semiconductors, data centers, green energy, and urban planning.
Adityanath assured investors that the Uttar Pradesh government would support them at every stage, from signing memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to the commencement of manufacturing. The meeting also involved the issuance of a project eligibility certificate and the exchange of investment agreements with two other companies. The Chief Minister emphasized that the combination of Singapore’s advanced technology and management capabilities with Uttar Pradesh’s vast market, skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure could pave the way for significant global development.
He highlighted that the state aims to go beyond merely receiving investment proposals, prioritizing their actual implementation to generate production and jobs. The government is focused on streamlining the entire investment process, from MOUs to manufacturing and production. Reflecting on his visit to Singapore in February 2026, where agreements worth approximately ₹60,000 crores were reached, Adityanath reiterated the commitment to provide security, stability, and rapid project completion.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has strengthened its position in the global economy, and Uttar Pradesh is moving beyond its previous image as a “sick” state to become a leading center for development. The Chief Minister noted significant increases in the state’s GDP, annual budget, and per capita income, along with rising female participation in the workforce.
During the meeting, Adityanath proposed the development of a dedicated “Singapore City” and a high-tech industrial township near the Noida International Airport. He pointed out that the strategic location of the Jewar area, combined with its expressway network and connectivity to dedicated freight corridors, positions it as a major supply chain hub in North India.
Uttar Pradesh has over 75,000 acres of land available for industrial investment and is developing 27 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters. The state’s defense industrial corridor, encompassing six centers in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot, has attracted investment proposals exceeding ₹35,000 crores. The Chief Minister outlined six priority areas for collaboration with Singaporean investors, including multi-modal logistics and warehousing, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, data centers and cloud services, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and waste management.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh accounts for approximately 55% of the country’s mobile production and nearly 60% of electronic component manufacturing. The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s agricultural capacity, noting its contribution of around 21% to the nation’s food production. This presents ample opportunities for partnerships in food processing, high-quality packaging, and export expertise with Singapore.
The successful organization of the Maha Kumbh 2025 showcased Uttar Pradesh’s management capabilities for large events on a global stage. This experience can be leveraged to enhance modern tourism facilities, wellness projects, and the hospitality sector. Adityanath emphasized the potential for developing world-class hotels, conference centers, and other tourism amenities in Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Prayagraj, and the Buddhist circuit, with the involvement of Singaporean companies.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister presented an eligibility certificate to Greater Nashik Infracon Private Limited. This company, associated with Singapore’s Universal Success Enterprises, received the certificate for establishing a ₹775 crore “Universal Packaging Hub” on 50 acres in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area. The project includes direct foreign equity from Singapore and is expected to create 1,880 direct jobs.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was exchanged with AgriCorp International, a global agricultural and food processing company, to set up a modern manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh for producing soy protein isolate and chickpea protein concentrate. This initiative is anticipated to boost agricultural product processing, value addition, and agriculture-based industries.
A memorandum was also signed with Blue Planet Environmental Solutions, a global waste management firm. The company plans to treat approximately 750,000 tons of old waste in Noida and establish a fresh waste processing plant in Saharanpur with a capacity of 350 tons per day. These projects are expected to attract investments ranging from ₹250 to ₹350 crores and create around 100 to 120 jobs.
The delegation, led by Singapore Business Federation Chairman Mark Lee, toured the industrial areas of Noida and Greater Noida, praising the state’s infrastructure, ease of doing business, and investment-friendly policies. Members highlighted the significance of the film city, toy park, apparel park, medical devices park, and semiconductor cluster under development in Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area as crucial for attracting international investment.
Mark Lee noted the historical ties between India and Singapore, expressing optimism about the ongoing collaborations.
