Karnataka BJP Hits Back Over Park Bill Withdrawal, Claims CM Is Remote-Controlled

Bengaluru, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Opposition leader and BJP member R. Ashok criticized Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala’s recent claim that the Karnataka government listens to every Kannada speaker. During a statement on September 4, Ashok suggested that the withdrawal of a bill allowing the use of five percent of park land for other development projects revealed the true nature of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, whom he described as a “remote-controlled” leader.

In response to Surjewala’s defense of the government on social media platform X, Ashok argued that Shivakumar is not running the state independently but is instead taking orders from the Congress high command in Delhi. He posted, “Thank you, Surjewala, for confirming what seven crore Kannadigas already know: D.K. Shivakumar is a remote-controlled chief minister and among the weakest we have seen.”

Ashok further mocked Surjewala’s assertion that the government listens to every Kannada citizen, stating that the bill’s withdrawal demonstrates that the Congress government initially ignored public concerns about Bengaluru’s green spaces. He claimed that despite opposition from the BJP and citizens, the government attempted to implement provisions allowing the use of park land for other purposes.

“The bill was withdrawn. Delhi showed firmness. CM Shivakumar has capitulated,” Ashok said, asserting that the government’s decision was a direct response to the BJP’s protests and rising public discontent.

He also suggested that Surjewala’s presence in Karnataka was an attempt to justify Shivakumar’s retreat rather than a genuine response to public opinion. Ashok emphasized that the government only began to listen after facing significant opposition.

“The BJP opposed this provision, and public dissent forced the government to retract it. Facts cannot be changed by calling it a lie,” he stated. He accused Shivakumar of acting according to directives from Congress leaders in Delhi, including Rahul Gandhi, instead of making independent decisions for Karnataka.

“This was not leadership. It was a surrender controlled by remote,” Ashok concluded, reiterating his claim that Shivakumar is a “dummy CM” whose government is directed from Delhi.
