Dehradun, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held an extensive meeting late into the night with district magistrates and senior police officials in Dehradun. The four-hour session focused on various critical issues, including the progress of development projects, public services, law and order, preparations for upcoming festivals, disaster management, election-related tasks, and planning for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027.
The meeting included the home secretary, commissioners from the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions, and inspectors general from both police zones. Dhami instructed officials to ensure that all work aligns with government priorities and is completed in a timely, high-quality, and results-oriented manner. He made it clear that any negligence or delays in public interest matters would not be tolerated.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government’s primary focus is to enhance public services, swiftly resolve citizen issues, and strengthen governance in the state. He urged officials to go beyond their offices, assess ground realities, and address problems on-site.
Reviewing the condition of roads, Dhami directed all district magistrates to conduct on-ground inspections and expedite pending repairs. He stressed the importance of eliminating potholes and completing all work within the specified timeframe, emphasizing that there should be no compromise on the quality of road construction and repairs.
“I will soon tour the entire state by road. If I find any damaged roads or negligence in repair work, the responsible officials will be held accountable,” he stated. He urged officials to ensure that progress is not just reported on paper but is evident on the ground. District magistrates were instructed to coordinate with relevant departments for regular reviews of pending tasks and prioritize their completion.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to address the condition of roads that were dug up for sewer and drinking water pipelines. He mandated that all incomplete work be finished by November 1 and that immediate repairs be conducted to prevent unnecessary inconvenience for citizens, traders, and travelers.
Officials were tasked to hold coordination meetings with relevant departments and regularly review ongoing work, particularly in markets, residential areas, and major routes, in light of the upcoming festivals. He emphasized that no citizen should face difficulties due to departmental negligence.
Dhami instructed all municipal corporations and urban bodies to strengthen cleanliness initiatives. Regular cleaning should be maintained in cities and towns, ensuring that waste does not accumulate anywhere. He called for consistent monitoring of cleanliness in public spaces, markets, major roads, and sensitive areas.
He stressed that cleanliness should not be limited to campaigns but should be integrated into regular administrative processes. Officials must inspect cleanliness measures and take immediate corrective actions wherever deficiencies are found.
In addressing revenue-related issues, the Chief Minister directed that unnecessary delays be eliminated. Patwaris and tehsildars should ensure timely and proper resolution of cases, preventing citizens from having to visit offices repeatedly for minor tasks.
He insisted that administrative procedures should focus on public convenience, ensuring transparency, accountability, and timeliness in revenue matters. District magistrates were instructed to regularly review pending cases and identify reasons for any unnecessary delays, holding responsible parties accountable.
Dhami also emphasized the importance of closely monitoring tasks related to the voter list under the Special Intense Review (SIR). He urged that the inclusion of eligible voters and the removal of ineligible entries should be handled with utmost care and transparency.
He directed that necessary information and assistance be provided to voters to ensure that no eligible voter is unjustly excluded from the electoral process. Officials were instructed to comply fully with the Election Commission’s guidelines and regularly monitor tasks related to the review.
Finally, while reviewing approved projects under the district planning scheme, Dhami stressed that all work must be completed within the designated timeline, ensuring effective and appropriate use of released funds. He called for regular reviews of development projects to guarantee that the benefits reach eligible beneficiaries. The goal should not merely be to expend funds but to ensure visible benefits on the ground. Any unnecessary delays or quality issues in development projects would result in accountability for the respective officials.
The Chief Minister also directed that the police system be made more accountable, sensitive, and effective. He stated that every complaint brought to the police must be taken seriously, ensuring appropriate actions are taken in accordance with the law. He instructed that FIRs for cognizable offenses should be registered promptly, followed by swift and effective action.
