New Delhi, March 22: The Karachi Kings franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced the signing of South African batsman Reza Hendricks as a replacement for West Indies player Johnson Charles for the upcoming PSL 2026 season.
Johnson Charles was initially part of the Karachi Kings squad, where the team expected him to perform well as an opener. However, the explosive West Indies batsman has opted out of the entire season due to personal reasons.
With the PSL 2026 set to kick off on March 26, the Karachi Kings needed to announce Charles’s replacement quickly, leading to the decision to bring in top-order batsman Reza Hendricks.
Hendricks joins a roster of foreign players that includes David Warner, Adam Zampa, Moeen Ali, and UAE’s Muhammad Wasim.
The 36-year-old right-handed batsman boasts extensive experience in international T20 and league cricket. For South Africa, Hendricks has played 90 matches, scoring 2,504 runs at an average of 28.78 and a strike rate of 129.20, including one century and 18 half-centuries. His highest score is 117 runs.
This will be Hendricks’s second appearance in the PSL; he previously played for Multan Sultans in the 2024 season, where he scored 304 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 43.42 and a strike rate of 134.51.
In total, Hendricks has played 296 T20 matches, accumulating 8,372 runs with five centuries and 64 half-centuries across 277 innings.
The Karachi Kings will play their first match of PSL 2026 against Quetta Gladiators on March 27.
