Kamal Nath Criticizes Rising LPG Prices Amid Inflation Concerns

Bhopal, June 1: Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, has criticized the recent hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices. He urged the central government to reduce taxes to provide relief to consumers and small businesses.

As of Sunday, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders in Madhya Pradesh have increased again, with a rise of up to ₹44. In Bhopal, the price has reached ₹3,116.50. In Indore, it stands at ₹3,222.50, while in Jabalpur, it is ₹3,290. Gwalior sees a price of ₹3,338.50, and in Ujjain, it is ₹3,250.

Market data indicates that commercial LPG prices have surged by nearly ₹1,300 over the past three months. A price adjustment had also occurred on May 1.

Kamal Nath accused the BJP-led central government of exacerbating inflation through repeated increases in the prices of petrol, diesel, CNG, and LPG. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that the BJP government is imposing inflation on the people from all sides. Following multiple hikes in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices, the latest increase of ₹44 in commercial LPG cylinder prices is concerning.

He argued that this issue is linked to taxation policies rather than global fuel prices and claimed that reducing taxes could provide immediate relief to consumers.

Nath also expressed concern about the impact of rising LPG prices during the ongoing wedding season. With over 20,000 weddings expected in Madhya Pradesh by July, hotels, catering companies, and food vendors will face increased operational costs.

He noted that many businesses had already accepted advance bookings, and they would either incur losses or pass the additional burden onto customers.

Nath concluded by demanding that the government stop troubling the public, lower taxes, and provide relief from inflation.
