Mumbai, July 28: Actor Ram Kapoor made a poignant revelation about his personal life in the latest episode of the reality show “Lock Up: Truth or Punishment.” He disclosed that he has not spoken to his mother and sister for the past five years.
During the show, after the keyword “Father” appeared on screen, Ram shared that he had assisted his father in fulfilling his last wish.
Ram stated, “My relationship with my father was never good. There were always distances and disagreements between us. I lived my life my way, while the rest of the family was with him. During the COVID pandemic, my father’s cancer returned. He called Gautami and expressed his desire to talk to me. That’s when our phone conversations began.”
He continued, “He had decided that he no longer wanted to live, but he was afraid to take that step alone. He didn’t want anyone to know about it. For some reason, he felt he needed me.”
Ram revealed that his father asked him, “Can you help me die?”
He recounted, “Naturally, my reaction was like anyone else’s. I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ But he managed to explain to me that if I didn’t help him, he would die alone.”
According to Ram Kapoor, his father wanted him to stay with him in the ICU until the end. He also requested that no one should cry during his final journey and that his last rites should be performed on the same day.
Ram said, “Somehow, I held his hand every day and let him go. My mother and sister still do not talk to me. It has been over five years. I believe that a child can hardly do anything greater for their parents. Everyone lives like a king in their life, but my father took his leave like a king as well.”
At the end of the conversation, the actor became emotional. He expressed that he no longer fears death, as he has seen it up close.
