Kolkata, July 15: The family of the victim in the 2013 Kamduni gang rape and murder case has found renewed hope for justice following the establishment of a BJP government in West Bengal. On Wednesday, the victim’s brother and sister visited Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s public court in Kolkata to submit documents related to the case and demand justice.
Speaking to a news agency, the victim’s brother recounted, “In June 2013, my sister was returning home after an exam when she was gang-raped by a group of men who were drinking nearby. We have yet to receive justice. The previous TMC government failed to deliver justice for us. Now, we have come to meet the new Chief Minister, hoping that we will finally receive justice.”
He added, “The people of West Bengal are aware of the Kamduni gang rape and murder case, and everyone wants justice to be served. We have come to the Chief Minister to demand this justice.”
Another woman related to the case stated, “My sister was raped and murdered during the TMC government, but we did not receive justice. Mamata Banerjee let the perpetrators go free, which is why we are here today, seeking justice. We need justice, and that is why we have come.”
She described the incident as a horrific event that cannot be expressed in words. “Mamata Banerjee downplayed it as a minor incident. Today, we are here at the Chief Minister’s public court pleading for justice.”
It is noteworthy that following the change in government in West Bengal, the new BJP administration has taken action. Recently, they reopened the case files related to the gang rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
