Jharkhand Initiates Recruitment of 942 Medical Officers and Faculty

Ranchi, March 26: The Jharkhand government has commenced the recruitment process to fill vacant positions in various government hospitals and medical colleges, aiming to strengthen the state’s healthcare services.

Official sources from the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department revealed that a total of 942 positions are being filled. Of these, 276 positions have already been sent to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), while requests for the remaining 666 positions have been forwarded to the Personnel Department.

The recruitment process is categorized into three main segments. To enhance the teaching framework in medical colleges, 180 assistant professor positions are proposed. This includes 155 regular positions and 25 backlog positions across 24 departments, such as Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Pediatrics. The recruitment will adhere to the Jharkhand Medical Education Service Rules of 2018 (amended in 2021) and the standards set by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Additionally, provisions have been made for the appointment of 96 specialist faculty members in medical colleges located in Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Palamu, and Dumka to bolster super-specialty services. Departments such as Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Oncology will benefit from these appointments.

Moreover, there is a proposal to appoint 666 specialist doctors in district and sub-divisional hospitals, with 506 regular positions and 160 backlog positions. The process of sending requests to the Personnel Department is ongoing. Notably, there will be 226 positions for Physicians and 224 for Pediatricians. Positions for Anesthetists and Obstetricians are also included. The department has indicated that the recruitment of 335 medical officers is being handled separately. The government asserts that these appointments will enhance human resource availability in various health institutions, particularly aiding in strengthening specialized services in rural and remote areas.
