Mumbai, April 2: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has commented on the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran. He noted that tensions have been escalating for a long time, now manifesting as war.
Nirupam pointed out that the U.S. imposed sanctions preventing countries from purchasing crude oil from Iran. As a result, the flow of Iranian crude oil to India nearly halted in 2019. However, he stated that the current war has created a global oil supply crisis, which has inadvertently allowed for increased oil imports from Iran to India. He anticipates that in the coming days, there will be a significant rise in oil supply from Iran.
He criticized those who have raised alarms about a petroleum crisis in India, suggesting that their concerns are unfounded. He emphasized that Iran has been a long-time ally, providing oil to India, and that trade will resume.
Regarding the upcoming West Bengal elections, Nirupam mentioned that the Election Commission initiated the Special Investigation Report (SIR) process. He noted that the West Bengal government and the Trinamool Congress have opposed this process, yet it proceeded, resulting in the removal of unwanted voters from the electoral list.
Nirupam also targeted the Congress party, questioning the patriotism of its current members. He recalled their historical contributions to India’s independence, but raised doubts about their commitment today.
He criticized Rahul Gandhi for remaining seated during the national anthem, stating that respecting “Vande Mataram” is a duty of every Indian. He condemned Congress leaders for disrespecting the anthem, which symbolizes the struggle of millions against colonial rule.
