Jharkhand Government to Create Comprehensive Database for Migrant Workers in Three Months

Mumbai, June 4: The Jharkhand government has decided to accelerate efforts to create a comprehensive and updated database for unorganized, construction, and migrant workers. Within the next three months, a digital record will be prepared detailing the number of workers employed outside the state, their work areas, and current locations. Additionally, assistance centers for migrant workers will be established in major cities across the country.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren reviewed the operations of the Labor, Planning, Training, and Skill Development Department on Thursday. The meeting focused on strategies for worker welfare, skill development, job creation, and preventing migration.

It was reported during the meeting that plans are underway to set up migrant assistance centers in Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. These centers will provide support and essential information to Jharkhand workers employed in other states. The review emphasized the need to accelerate the registration campaign for workers and to connect more individuals to the e-Shram portal.

Efforts to ensure comprehensive registration of workers in the unorganized sector, including MGNREGA workers, were also discussed. Prioritizing worker safety, the government plans to enhance the provision of helmets, shoes, gloves, and other safety equipment. It was decided that existing worker hubs in various regions of the state would be identified and developed into worker transit and facility centers.

These centers will provide basic amenities and information about government schemes for workers. The government plans to develop one ITI as a model institution in each district, grade the institutions, and introduce new training programs tailored to industry needs.

The discussion also covered the placement of trained youth. CM Soren instructed officials to establish better coordination between industries and training institutions to increase job opportunities and directly connect youth to employment after training.

The meeting was attended by Labor, Planning, Training, and Skill Development Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Development Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh, and several other officials.
