Jharkhand Candidates Announce Major Protest Against Government Over Exam Irregularities

Ranchi, August 15: Candidates protesting against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC-CGL examinations in Jharkhand have declared a decisive battle against the government. On the 22nd day of their movement, the JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum held a press conference on Saturday evening, announcing a siege of the Chief Minister’s residence on August 20.

For the first time, the forum has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, stating that the government must be accountable to the students’ concerns. Spokespersons Ravindra Paswan and Piyush Kumar emphasized that the JSSC CGL and the 11th to 13th JPSC Civil Service exams have not been canceled. They are now adopting the paths of Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose in their struggle, with candidates from across the state set to converge in Ranchi for the protest. They stated that the movement will continue until their demands are met.

Student leaders announced that on August 16, effigies of Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be burned in all 24 districts of Jharkhand. A large gathering is also expected at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi for a protest demonstration.

The forum has also declared plans to burn an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Ravindra Paswan expressed frustration with Gandhi, stating that while he previously supported the students’ demands, he now needs to clarify his stance on the state government. He remarked, “If you stand with our issues, withdraw Congress’s support from the state government. Do not confuse us by claiming to stand with the students.”

The student leaders noted that their movement has thus far been conducted in a Gandhian manner, but due to the government’s lack of action on their demands, they feel compelled to escalate their struggle.

The forum indicated that the siege of the Chief Minister’s residence on August 20 will mark a significant phase in their movement, with thousands of candidates expected to arrive in Ranchi from various districts. They reiterated that their protest will persist until concrete decisions are made regarding their demands.
