Nairobi, August 15: Over 1,200 people from the Indian community and friends of India gathered at India House in Kenya to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of India.
The Indian High Commission in Kenya shared the news on the social media platform X, stating, “Celebrating India @80. The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated at India House in Nairobi with great patriotic fervor. High Commissioner Adarsh Swain hoisted the national flag and read the President’s message to the nation. Various cultural programs showcased India’s rich cultural heritage, attended by over 1,200 members of the Indian community and friends of India.”
A heartfelt presentation and group singing of the national song ‘Vande Mataram‘ marked the occasion, celebrating its 150th anniversary. A special exhibition highlighting the song’s history, heritage, and its significant role in India’s freedom struggle was also organized.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances that enhanced the Independence Day celebrations.
Meanwhile, in Bahrain, over 1,000 members of the Indian community also participated in the Independence Day celebrations. The Indian Embassy reported on X that Ambassador Vinod K. Jacob hoisted the national flag at the Indian Embassy, celebrating India’s 80th Independence Day. More than 1,000 Indian community members from various parts of Bahrain joined the event with a spirit of unity, pride, and patriotism.
Ambassador Jacob read out the Independence Day message from President Droupadi Murmu and urged the Indian community to actively participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
In France, Indian Ambassador Sanjiv Singla hoisted the national flag. The Indian Embassy participated in the “Surya Path Tiranga” campaign, a global relay initiative that brings the Indian tricolor to Indian missions and diplomatic offices worldwide, symbolizing national pride and unity.
The celebrations in France included a heartfelt presentation of ‘Vande Mataram,’ along with vibrant cultural programs presented by teachers from the Indian Cultural Center in Paris and local artists. Winners of the ‘Know India’ quiz held in France were also honored during the event.
