Kashi Pur, August 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Kashi Pur, alongside various locations across the country and state.
Flag hoisting ceremonies took place at government, political, and social institutions throughout the city, paying tribute to the national flag. During the celebrations, families of freedom fighters and Kargil martyrs, as well as Uttarakhand state movement activists, were honored.
At the Bharatiya Janata Party district office, district president Manoj Pal hoisted the flag, while Kashi Pur’s SP, Swapn Kishore Singh, saluted the national flag at the Kashi Pur police station.
In the Kashi Pur Municipal Corporation premises, Mayor Deepak Bali, along with MLA Trilok Singh Cheema, Minister of State Seema Chauhan, municipal councilors, and other dignitaries, conducted the flag hoisting ceremony. The entire area resonated with patriotic fervor during the national anthem.
Following the ceremony, students from various schools showcased vibrant cultural performances that instilled feelings of patriotism and national unity among the audience.
During the event, families of Kargil martyrs and freedom fighters were honored with shawls and saplings, and Uttarakhand state movement activists were also recognized in a similar manner.
After the ceremony, a Tiranga rally was organized, featuring school children, local representatives, and a large number of residents. Amidst music and patriotic slogans, Mayor Deepak Bali led the procession through the main market, reaching the Muslim-majority area of Mohalla Alli Khan Chowk.
Here, Mayor Bali officially inaugurated a massive national flag, measuring 135 feet, hoisted on a tall pole. As the giant tricolor waved, the area erupted with slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” The atmosphere throughout the city was festive, celebrating independence, with flower petals showered by Muslim families at Ali Khan Chowk.
