New Delhi, August 16: On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Iranian Embassy in India shared President Pezeshkian’s message on the social media platform X on Saturday.
In his message, the Iranian President highlighted that the 80th anniversary of India’s independence presents a significant opportunity to deepen and expand the longstanding and extensive relations between India and Iran.
He described the historical, cultural, and civilizational ties between the two nations as a crucial foundation for bilateral relations. He noted that these deep connections could play an essential role in shaping a bright future for bilateral ties based on shared interests.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening its comprehensive relations with India. He stated that in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect, both countries could take more effective steps to enhance bilateral relations and promote the shared interests of their peoples.
In his message, the Iranian President prayed for India’s prosperity, progress, welfare, and continuous happiness. He also expressed hopes for the further strengthening and flourishing of the longstanding relations between India and Iran.
Various programs were organized at Indian embassies and high commissions worldwide to celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day. A special ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ exhibition was held at the Indian Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where members of the Indian community, guests, consulate officials, and their families shared memorable moments with the national flag.
In Lusaka, Zambia, the Indian High Commission hoisted the national flag, with participation from Indian expatriates and Zambian friends of India. The event featured a collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram,’ and prizes were awarded to the winners of the BKJ quiz.
A large number of Indian expatriates and Lithuanian friends of India also participated in the Independence Day celebrations in Lithuania, where Indian Ambassador Devesh Uttam hoisted the national flag.
