Jharkhand Begins Annual Matric and Intermediate Exams with Over 7.5 Lakh Students

Ranchi, February 3: The annual matriculation and intermediate examinations organized by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) commenced statewide on Tuesday. JAC has assured that necessary arrangements have been made to conduct the exams peacefully, fairly, and transparently.

On the first day, vocational subjects were examined for both matric and intermediate students. This year, the matric exams will run until February 17, while the intermediate exams will conclude on February 23. A total of 758,182 students are participating, with 423,861 in matriculation and 334,321 in intermediate. There are 1,232 centers for matric exams and 757 for intermediate exams.

CCTV cameras have been installed at all centers to effectively monitor and control malpractice. The exams are being conducted in two shifts. The first shift for matriculation runs from 9:45 AM to 12:35 PM, while the second shift for intermediate takes place from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Students are also given an additional 15 minutes to read the question paper and alleviate mental pressure.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has appealed to students, parents, teachers, exam officials, and the public for cooperation in ensuring smooth conduct of the exams. He emphasized the government’s commitment to conducting exams in an environment free from malpractice to enhance the quality of education and human resource development. JAC has issued a strict warning against the circulation of fake or old question papers on social media.

The council stated that creating, sharing, or spreading rumors about fake question papers on platforms like YouTube, Telegram, and WhatsApp is a serious offense. Legal action will be taken against offenders under the IT Act 2000 and the Indian Penal Code. If necessary, related social media groups or channels will be shut down, and the names of offenders will be made public.

JAC has urged the public to maintain a peaceful environment around exam centers, report any suspicious activities to the authorities, and rely only on official information released by the council. A toll-free number has also been provided for student assistance.
