New Delhi, August 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reacted to a viral video featuring a woman expressing her frustration after being delayed at a checkpoint in Kargil district. The video, reportedly filmed last month, shows several vehicles halted at the checkpoint, with no clear reason given for the delay.
In the footage, the woman becomes increasingly agitated after waiting for a long time. She begins to argue with security personnel and starts recording the incident. “We will sit here until we see how your minister gets through. We are Gen Z, and we will not tolerate this,” she declares. She also asks others around her, “Will you join me here or not?” urging them to take action by saying, “Let’s move our cars and see how they stop us; it has been five hours.”
The woman further emphasizes that tourists pay to visit and should not have to endure such treatment. She criticized the authorities for treating both locals and tourists poorly.
In response to the video, CM Abdullah took to social media platform X, stating that claiming “we are Gen Z” has become a new attitude akin to saying, “Do you know who my father is?” He expressed concern that using the Gen Z label as a threat diminishes its positive image.
The checkpoint in Dras, Kargil, is known for halting vehicles, but many are now questioning why traffic was stopped in this instance. Was it for a minister’s convenience, or was there a legitimate security threat?
