Ipswich, August 8: Ipswich Town has officially signed Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic from Fulham. His contract with the team will last until 2030. The transfer fee for the 29-year-old Lukic has not been disclosed.
After signing with Ipswich Town, Lukic expressed his pride in joining the club. “I am honored to sign for this club. I know the history here is very good. The supporters are fantastic. I cannot wait to play for the team,” he said.
Lukic added, “I have played at Portman Road in the Premier League before, and the atmosphere there was one of the best I have experienced. I cannot wait to play here as a home player. I am a box-to-box player who gives everything on the pitch every time. I am excited to meet everyone and get started.”
Ipswich manager Gary O’Neil welcomed Lukic, stating that he will be a crucial asset for the Premier League team.
O’Neil remarked, “Sasa is a player who will bring real experience to the team in the new season. Having played nearly 100 games in the Premier League, he knows what it takes to compete in this division. He has consistently performed well during his time at Fulham. We are very happy to have him with us and to strengthen an essential part of the team.”
Born in Sabac, Serbia, Lukic began his professional career with Partizan Belgrade at the age of 17 in 2013. He made his senior debut in 2015.
Lukic is highly experienced, having played 100 Premier League matches with Fulham. He joined the London club in January 2023 and has played a total of 106 matches across all competitions. Before moving to England, Lukic spent seven years with Italian club Torino, where he played 168 matches and scored 14 goals. He also had a brief stint with Spanish team Levante during the 2017-18 season.
Lukic has represented Serbia in 62 matches, including at the FIFA World Cup 2022 held in Qatar. He is also part of Serbia’s squad for UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.
