Bhopal, September 2: The Rajiv Gandhi Technology University in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has been divided into three parts, each named based on regional considerations. This move has drawn sharp criticism from senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who labeled it as a reflection of the BJP’s petty mindset.
Recently, a significant decision was made during the Mohan Cabinet meeting regarding the university. The government has decided to restructure the university and establish three new technology universities in Bhopal, Ujjain, and Jabalpur. Officials claim this is a historic step towards achieving regional balance and enhancing quality in higher and technical education.
In response to the government’s decision, Kamal Nath took to the social media platform X, expressing his disapproval. He stated that dividing the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Technology University and removing the name of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi symbolizes the BJP government’s narrow-mindedness.
He further emphasized that the world recognizes Rajiv Gandhi’s era as a time when India entered the modern technological age, initiating the information revolution and the computer era.
Kamal Nath made pointed remarks about the BJP, accusing them of failing to undertake new initiatives and merely changing the nameplates of Congress-era projects. He described the BJP government as ineffective and anti-education, demanding that Rajiv Gandhi’s name remain associated with the university.
He concluded with a warning, reminding that every action has consequences, and history cannot be altered by merely changing names.
