Grand Damaru Yatra Celebrated in Vadnagar During Shravan Utsav 2026

Vadnagar, September 2: The Gujarat government’s Department of Sports, Youth, and Cultural Activities organized a magnificent Damaru Yatra at the historic site of Vadnagar as part of the Shravan Utsav 2026. On Wednesday, the event was graced by Arjun Modhwadia, the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, who participated with great devotion. This group procession enveloped Vadnagar in a divine atmosphere, deepening the faith associated with the month of Shravan.

The journey commenced auspiciously from the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple on Wednesday morning. The highlight of this grand procession was the performance by 108 artists playing the Damaru, whose sounds resonated throughout the city. The procession followed a designated route starting from Neelkanth Mahadev, passing through key areas such as Saket Society, Government Library, Arts and Commerce College, Municipal Road, and Railway Station Road. It concluded majestically at the sacred Shri Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple.

The cultural and religious festival showcased a beautiful scene of community participation. Not only local residents, but also a significant number of Shiva devotees from various talukas of Banaskantha district joined the Damaru Yatra. Minister Arjun Modhwadia engaged with the devotees, immersing himself in the devotional atmosphere.

Organized by the Gujarat government, this festival has elevated the cultural heritage and religious traditions of Vadnagar. At the end of the procession, the minister offered prayers at Hatkeshwar Mahadev, distributed prasad and Shiva kits to the devotees. Also present were Sardar Chaudhary, the MLA from Kheralu, Municipal Chairperson Mitikaben Shah, officials, and local leaders.
