New Delhi, September 2: The Delhi Police have made significant progress in solving a robbery and murder case that occurred in Rohini, arresting three suspects, including the victim’s niece. A fourth suspect remains at large, and efforts to locate him are ongoing, authorities reported on Wednesday.
The incident came to light on September 1 at 8:14 PM when a PCR call was received regarding a burglary and an unconscious individual at house number G-30/67-68 in Sector-3, Rohini.
The victim has been identified as Rakesh Khanna, approximately 60 years old. Family members rushed him to Jaipur Golden Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone-I) Devesh Chandra Srivastava and Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Singh. Multiple teams were deployed under the leadership of DCP Shashank Jaiswal of Rohini district.
Following the PCR call, senior police officials, including the DCP and Additional DCP, promptly arrived at the hospital and the crime scene. The local police team, in collaboration with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the crime team, examined the site.
Initial investigations revealed that around 7:30 PM, three individuals entered the house while a fourth monitored the surroundings. Police indicated that the suspects had conducted reconnaissance of the house two days prior to the incident, on August 30.
Reports suggest that approximately ₹1.5 lakh in cash and some gold jewelry were stolen from the residence. Police have recovered around ₹70,000 in cash along with some of the stolen gold items.
The three arrested suspects have been identified as Simran Taneja, Chirag, and Paras. According to police, 23-year-old Simran Taneja, the victim’s niece, emerged as the main conspirator in this case.
Simran is the daughter of Dalip Taneja and resides in Burari, where she works as a primary school teacher. The second suspect, 22-year-old Chirag, is the son of Avdesh and works as a gym trainer at The Beast Gym in Baba Colony, Burari.
The third suspect, 19-year-old Paras, is the son of Anil Kumar and also lives in Baba Colony. He is a 12th-grade student and has previously been involved in a case registered at Mukherjee Nagar police station.
The fourth suspect has been identified as Himanshu, the gym owner from Burari, who is currently on the run. Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend him.
Authorities stated that they are investigating each suspect’s role and the sequence of events surrounding the incident. Further inquiries are ongoing.
