Investigation into Amar Colony Shooting Transferred to Crime Branch

New Delhi, May 28: The investigation into the shooting incident in Amar Colony, Delhi, has been handed over to the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police. Previously, the Crime Branch had already apprehended one suspect involved in the shooting.

According to the Delhi Police, the case involves a shooting that left one person injured. The Crime Branch detained a suspect on Wednesday night in connection with the incident.

Reports indicate that a 17-year-old student was shot at a restaurant in the Amar Colony area of Southeast Delhi. The student sustained serious injuries after allegedly objecting to a group of young men brushing against his chair.

The detained suspect is a minor and is not believed to be the main shooter in the incident. Authorities stated that a PCR call regarding the shooting was received at the Amar Colony police station around 7:54 PM on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Sahil, was dining with friends when a group of boys passed by their table. One of them reportedly touched Sahil’s chair, prompting him to object and ask them to walk properly.

Investigators revealed that after this brief altercation, the group initially left the restaurant but returned shortly after. According to officials, one of the young men then allegedly fired at Sahil before fleeing the scene with the others. Sahil was the only person injured in this shooting.

Upon receiving the report, a local police team, along with the station house officer and the assistant commissioner of police, rushed to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, local residents and Sahil’s friends had already taken him to the hospital.

Authorities reported that Sahil was initially admitted to Moolchand Hospital and later referred to AIIMS Trauma Center for better treatment. Doctors have stated that his condition remains serious, and he is currently on ventilator support, although his status is reported to be stable.

Efforts to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the shooting are ongoing, with raids being conducted. Additionally, CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analyzed.
