Investigation Intensifies in Sangli Drug Case, Salim Dola to Appear in Court

Mumbai, May 13: The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 7 has detained Salim Dola, an alleged close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, for further questioning in connection with the 2024 Sangli drug manufacturing case. Reports indicate that Dola will be presented in court today. The Crime Branch has been actively investigating this case, with expectations of significant revelations soon.

According to the Crime Branch, in March 2024, investigative agencies raided an illegal drug factory in Sangli, seizing approximately 122 kilograms of MD drugs. A substantial amount of cash and gold was also recovered, with the total value of the confiscated items estimated at around ₹253 crores. During this operation, six individuals were arrested, including a suspect named Praveen Shinde, who is believed to have been operating the illegal factory.

Investigations revealed that Salim Dola was providing financial support to the entire drug racket. Furthermore, he was overseeing the supply and transport network for the drugs. Police suggest that this network is linked to international drug trafficking and may involve several high-profile individuals.

Previously, the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 7 had arrested Tahir Dola and Kubba Wala after their extradition from Dubai in connection with the same case. Salim Dola has now been taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further investigation. The Crime Branch believes that questioning Dola could uncover crucial information related to the drug syndicate and its underworld connections.

Salim Dola was previously incarcerated at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. The Crime Branch team took him into custody after filing a petition in the Special NDPS Court. In court, the police argued that Dola is linked to international drug trafficking, making his custody essential for a thorough investigation. The court subsequently granted the Crime Branch his custody.
