New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to strengthen the voice of the Global South at the BRICS summit has resonated with leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). They emphasized that the Global South is rapidly emerging in various sectors and has the potential to lead the world.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal stated, “The Global South is indeed making significant strides in modernization and digitization across all fields. It can lead the entire world, as Prime Minister Modi pointed out.”
Discussing the BRICS summit, Khandelwal highlighted that the New Delhi Declaration incorporated all issues raised by India. He condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and noted the strong resolution passed against terror funding. He also mentioned that BRICS nations reached a consensus on trade and industry matters. Under Modi’s leadership, the BRICS declaration has set new international benchmarks, opening up numerous trade opportunities for Indian businesses and MSMEs.
JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan remarked on Modi’s statement about the Global South, noting that it could represent a significant group of developing and vulnerable nations. He believes that BRICS can play a crucial role in defining the sentiments and roles of the Global South. Ranjan added that with China hosting the next BRICS summit, achieving notable success in the coming year could send a strong message to nations that exacerbate global inequalities.
He pointed out that BRICS countries account for 40 percent of the world’s GDP and represent between 45 and 49 percent of the global population. This substantial forum can effectively address challenges, especially in light of the crises in West Asia. The ongoing dialogue between the UAE and Iran, alongside BRICS participation, underscores the forum’s significant role.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahadev commented on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s remarks regarding BRICS’s role in West Asia peace efforts. He stated, “India has always been proactive. During the Iran-Israel conflict, India took significant initiatives. Both countries view India as a close friend. India desires an end to the long-standing conflict, as war benefits no one and harms human life, infrastructure, and the economy. We always strive for global peace while ensuring our borders remain secure.”
