North Koreas Kim Yo Jong: Talks with U.S. Not at the Expense of National Interests
North Koreas Kim Yo Jong emphasizes talks with the U.S. must not compromise national interests amid rising tensions.

Seoul, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : North Korea has stated that while dialogue with the United States could be a path to peace, it will not compromise its national interests. Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un, made this assertion on Wednesday, accusing the U.S. of maintaining a hostile policy towards Pyongyang.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim Yo Jong highlighted that the U.S. is sending signals that force North Korea to reconsider its perceptions of American intentions. “Dialogue is certainly one of the options for peace, but that does not mean it equates to our national interests,” she remarked.
Her comments come in the wake of allegations from the FBI that North Korea was involved in a $6 billion cryptocurrency theft linked to Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. North Korea has dismissed these claims, labeling them as politically motivated provocations.
Kim Yo Jong reiterated that the hacking allegations exemplify the U.S.’s hostile stance. She pointed out that the so-called North Korean cryptocurrency hacking case is merely a glimpse into the true nature of America’s anti-Pyongyang policy.
She also referenced a recent trilateral meeting of foreign ministers from South Korea, the U.S., and Japan, where the three nations reaffirmed their commitment to North Korea’s complete denuclearization. Kim characterized the joint military exercises of these countries as part of their hostile activities against North Korea.
For the dialogue to proceed, she insisted that the U.S. must abandon its confrontational policy. “It is the most crucial condition for solving all problems,” she stated. Until Washington alters its aggressive approach, she argued, there is no reason for Pyongyang to engage in talks.
Kim Yo Jong warned of possible retaliatory measures from North Korea in response to what she described as the U.S.’s hostile actions, although she did not specify what those actions might entail.
This statement arises amidst ongoing discussions about potential diplomatic contacts between North Korea and the U.S. President Donald Trump has previously expressed a desire to meet with Kim Jong Un, and speculation about a possible meeting between the two leaders has intensified this month, although North Korea has not provided any positive signals regarding this prospect.
