Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day official visit to strengthen ties between India and Nepal.

Kathmandu, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a two-day official visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between India and Nepal. He was welcomed at the airport by Sudhakar Dalela, India’s ambassador to Nepal, along with senior officials from the Nepalese Foreign Ministry.
The visit, scheduled for November 4-5, was announced by both countries earlier this week. It is believed to lay the groundwork for Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming trip to India.
During his stay, Misri is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with Nepalese Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai. Both nations plan to review all aspects of Nepal-India relations and exchange views on mutual interests, with the goal of further strengthening their long-standing friendship.
Additionally, Misri will meet with prominent figures in Nepal. The Indian Foreign Ministry stated that discussions will cover various bilateral, regional, and global issues of shared interest.
The Ministry emphasized the robust and friendly ties between India and Nepal, highlighting significant progress in various areas of cooperation. Misri’s visit is seen as a continuation of regular high-level dialogues that aim to bolster the comprehensive bilateral partnership.
Discussions will likely include the agenda for Prime Minister Dahal’s forthcoming visit to New Delhi. Nepalese officials indicated that they aim to make this visit meaningful, focusing on several issues where they seek India’s cooperation.
A Nepalese official noted that following the devastating floods on August 26, Nepal is looking for a substantial aid package from India. Other key topics include resolving border disputes, amending trade agreements, and establishing additional air entry points for international flights through India.
During Dahal’s proposed visit, several projects related to bilateral cooperation are also expected to be inaugurated.
