India’s External Affairs Minister Discusses West Asia Crisis with Israeli and Australian Counterparts

New Delhi, April 14: India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has expressed concerns regarding the West Asia conflict. He held discussions with his Israeli and Australian counterparts over the phone. Jaishankar shared this update on the social media platform X.

On Tuesday afternoon, he spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Saar. “We discussed various aspects related to West Asia,” Jaishankar noted. Gidon Saar also confirmed the conversation on his official X account.

Saar mentioned, “As always, I had a good conversation with my friend, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. We talked about Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and Lebanon.” He highlighted the conditions set by the United States and emphasized the need for international community improvement.

In another post, Jaishankar informed about his discussion with Australian counterpart Senator Wong regarding the West Asia conflict.

Jaishankar’s conversations with the foreign ministers of Israel and Australia are significant amid the U.S. blockade in Hormuz. Just a day prior, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the commencement of this blockade.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the blockade has begun earlier than scheduled and will be strictly enforced. All vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports will be monitored. However, the U.S. clarified that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to ports outside Iran will not be stopped.

CENTCOM stated, “The blockade will apply to all vessels entering or exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas. Ships traveling between non-Iranian ports will be allowed to pass through Hormuz.”

The operation includes the U.S. warship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), which has been sending F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter jets, MV-22 Ospreys, and helicopters towards Hormuz. CENTCOM reported that more fighter jets can be deployed from USS Tripoli as needed.
