Mumbai, April 14: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to West Bengal. He stated that while it is good that Gandhi is visiting the state, he wonders why it took an election to prompt this attention. “Where has he been for the past five years?” he asked.
Nirupam pointed out that Congress has been out of power in West Bengal for the last 40 years, and its presence in the state has dwindled to nearly nothing. “No one in the state is asking about Congress,” he remarked. He expressed disappointment that Gandhi is only now showing interest in West Bengal as elections approach.
He emphasized that merely visiting the state during election season will not yield any benefits for Gandhi. “How many Congress leaders have made an effort to engage with the public in West Bengal over the past five years?” he questioned.
Nirupam lamented that the lack of communication with the public has led Congress to face defeat in every election. He criticized the party for blaming the Election Commission for their losses, calling it completely unjustified.
In addition, he welcomed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s decision to increase the minimum wage for workers, stating that it is a positive step. “Workers are the backbone of our economy, and their interests should never be compromised,” he added.
Nirupam also condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party workers for their criticism of the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list. He urged them to understand that the entire process is being conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court. “It is crucial for Banerjee and her party to trust the Supreme Court,” he said.
He advised TMC and its workers to refrain from discussing the SIR issue among the public, as it is being overseen by the Supreme Court.
Furthermore, Nirupam commented on the recent conversion incident at the TCS company in Nashik, calling it a serious matter. He noted that both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have taken it seriously, leading to police action and several arrests.
“My question to TCS is, as one of the world’s most respected companies, how could such a regrettable act occur right under your nose without your attention?” he asked.
