Nagoya, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s skeet team achieved a remarkable feat by winning the bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya on September 23. The trio of Parinaz, Raiza, and Maheshwari delivered an impressive performance, scoring 331 points in the final.
Raiza expressed her team’s confidence in winning a medal, attributing their success to thorough preparations leading up to the games. “We are all very happy. We were confident about this medal because our preparations were excellent. This is a significant victory for our country and for us. I am proud of myself and my team,” she stated.
Despite facing some rain during the match, Raiza noted that it did not pose any major challenges. “There was a little rain in between, but it didn’t cause any significant issues. I have played in worse weather conditions,” she added.
Looking ahead, Raiza is optimistic that India will secure more medals in shooting events. “We have several events remaining, so we will definitely leave here with more medals. I want to dedicate this medal to my parents, my team, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and NRI supporters,” she said.
Maheshwari Chauhan also reflected on the team’s achievement, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent their country. “I feel very grateful. I think we are fortunate to have the chance to perform for our country and win a medal. There is still much work ahead and a long journey to go, but it feels great and lucky,” she remarked.
She emphasized the importance of the atmosphere in skeet shooting, stating, “Honestly, the environment plays a crucial role in skeet. I personally enjoy shooting in the rain, so I was happy to see it because we had been waiting for it for a long time. The winds weren’t very favorable, but overall it was a challenging yet good competition.”
Maheshwari acknowledged the support from the federation and SAI, stating, “The federation and the Sports Authority of India played a significant role. They supported us with camps, training, and coaching. We had been in camp since July for the Asian Games, with some domestic competitions in between. Our team was finalized back in May, giving us three to four months to prepare as a team. While our expectations were even higher, we are happy to have finished on the podium.”
