Nagoya, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : In Nagoya, on September 23, 2026, Indian shooters Raiza Dhillon and Parinaz Dhaliwal narrowly missed out on individual medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The duo had previously secured a bronze medal in the women’s skeet team event but were unable to replicate that success in their individual performances.
Raiza finished in fourth place, while Parinaz took eighth. After three days of qualification rounds, both shooters qualified for the finals by scoring 111 out of 125 shots, placing them eighth and ninth respectively. However, they struggled to make an impact during the finals and returned empty-handed from the individual events.
In the team event, Raiza, Parinaz, and Maheshwari combined to score 331, earning them third place on the podium. The gold medal went to the Chinese team, comprised of Che Yufei, Jian Yiting, and Jiang Chaoyu, who scored 347. Kazakhstan’s team, featuring Asem Orinbe, Zoya Piskun, and Adel Sadakbayeva, took home the silver with a score of 336.
Earlier, Indian Olympians Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Miraj Ahmed Khan, along with Bhavtegh Singh, also claimed a bronze medal in the men’s skeet team event. The trio scored 346, contributing to India’s tally of seven medals in shooting at the Aiichi-Nagoya venue. Qatar won gold, and Kuwait secured silver in this event.
In individual qualifications, Anantjeet was the only Indian to qualify for the finals, scoring 119 out of 125. Miraj and Bhavtegh did not qualify, scoring 116 and 111 respectively. In the women’s 10-meter air pistol event, Manu Bhaker fell short of the podium, finishing fifth with a score of 181.1.
The Indian women’s team in the 10-meter air pistol event placed fourth with a total score of 1719-44x, while Vietnam secured bronze with 1719-46x. China won the gold with a score of 1735-56x, and South Korea took silver with 1730-55x.
