Gurugram, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : Vidhatri Urs showcased remarkable resilience during the first round of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) 2026, held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram on September 23. After starting with three consecutive bogeys, she recovered impressively, finishing the round with a score of 3-under 69.
Urs turned her game around with seven birdies and only one additional bogey, ultimately seizing the lead. Only two players managed to score below par on this day: Urs and Jasmin Shekhar, who finished with a score of 71. Indian star Diksha Dagar tied for third place with Mannat Barar, both finishing at even par 72. Dagar is set to compete in the upcoming Asian Games.
Gaurika Bishnoi, eyeing the Women’s Indian Open next month, recorded a score of 1-over 73, placing her in a tie for fifth with Vani Kapoor, who has a strong record in the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
Urs, who previously won the 10th leg at Zion Hills this season, displayed grit after her rocky start. She found her rhythm with back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth holes, although another bogey on the sixth hole left her at 2-over. However, she rebounded, scoring birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to finish the front nine at even par. On the back nine, she played confidently, adding birdies on the 13th, 15th, and 18th holes without dropping another shot.
Diksha Dagar made a bogey on the third hole but quickly recovered with three birdies on the fifth, seventh, and ninth holes, reaching 2-under. However, she lost ground on the back nine with one birdie against three bogeys. Jasmin Shekhar had a strong start, scoring 4-under on the front nine, but her performance faltered with two bogeys on the last two holes, finishing two strokes behind Urs.
Tvesa Malik, Naynika Sanga, and Lavanya Jadon all tied for seventh place with scores of 2-over 74, while five players, including Ridhima Dilawari and Aditi Chaudhary, shared tenth place with scores of 3-over 75.
