Ladakh, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian government has taken a significant step by marking 28 locations and geographical features in the Union Territory of Ladakh on the official maps of the Survey of India. This decision, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to standardize the names of these locations and improve public awareness.
In collaboration with the Ladakh administration, the government identified these sites based on their official names. The initiative seeks to enhance the accurate identification of these geographical features, which include peaks, mountain ranges, passes, glaciers, valleys, rivers, lakes, and other notable landforms.
Among the 28 marked locations are prominent features such as Atisha Giri Peak, Brangsa Landform, Chapchingle Pass, Kanishk Peak, Karun Pir Mountain, and Kuksel Landform. The list also includes Martand Giri Peak, Parapik Glacier, Skamri Glacier, Shachmirk Pass, and Shakorga Valley, among others.
Additionally, other notable sites are Drak Karpo Mountain, Gogra Landform, Jolmori Mountain, Kumarayana Point, Panglung Landform, Rinchen Zangpo Peak, Sakya Shri Giri Peak, Guru Rinpoche Lake, and Hot Spring.
