Ambedkar Nagar, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : A devastating road accident occurred early Friday morning in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, claiming the lives of four passengers and leaving three others seriously injured. The incident took place on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway when a Volvo bus collided violently with a trailer.
The collision happened around 5:30 AM near the 85-kilometer mark of the expressway, causing chaos and prompting nearby villagers to rush to the scene for assistance. Local residents helped police extricate the injured passengers from the wreckage.
Dr. Tejveer Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed that the police received an emergency call via UP-112 about the accident. Responding quickly, the police arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. The injured were transported to the Community Health Center in Nagpur. Unfortunately, medical personnel later pronounced four passengers dead, while three others were referred to a medical college in Sadar for advanced treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Volvo bus, identified as the Tegra Express, was traveling from Delhi to Darbhanga. Initial reports indicate that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the tragic collision. Authorities are currently working to gather more information about the deceased and injured individuals.
This incident follows a recent tragedy in Greater Noida, where a bus fire resulted in the deaths of nine people. That bus was en route from Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate to Mahoba, and the incident prompted condolences from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President.
