New Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Defense Ministry has reported a significant decrease in the deployment of Chinese forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in 2025. Approximately ten joint weapon brigades were stationed in the region, while the Indian Army maintained a strong and strategically suitable presence throughout various sectors. During this period, 19 terrorists were neutralized in the interior areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ministry’s report highlights that continuous political, diplomatic, and military dialogues between India and China have played a crucial role in maintaining stability along the border. Meetings of the executive mechanism, talks between special representatives, and core commander-level discussions have been ongoing, allowing both sides to address mutual concerns in a cordial atmosphere.
In 2025, there were six infiltration attempts by terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the elimination of 12 Pakistani terrorists. Compared to previous years, attempts at infiltration along the LoC have decreased. However, security agencies have noted a shift in focus among terrorists towards regions near the international border, with increased efforts to smuggle drugs and war-like materials.
The report also indicated a rise in ceasefire violations along the LoC, with a total of 163 incidents recorded in 2025, a stark contrast to only two cases in 2024. Most of these violations—124 incidents—occurred during Operation Sindoor, suggesting heightened tensions during this period. Anti-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir intensified, resulting in the death of 19 terrorists, including eight from Pakistan, indicating that nearly 40% of the neutralized terrorists were Pakistani.
Additionally, the ministry reported a total of 863 drone infiltration cases along the international border in 2025, with nine incidents in Jammu and Kashmir and 854 in Punjab and Rajasthan. Security forces effectively countered the drone threat, downing 237 drones, of which five were carrying war-like materials. Among the downed drones, 72 were found to be transporting drugs, while 161 were empty, reflecting the increasing use of drones for surveillance and smuggling across the border.
The Defense Ministry’s report indicates a growing reliance on drones by adversarial forces for monitoring and trafficking weapons, ammunition, and drugs, particularly in Punjab.
