Lucknow, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : A group of bench chemists working on an outsourced basis in Uttar Pradesh’s Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has initiated a protest against their recent dismissals. On Monday, numerous chemists gathered outside the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, demanding their reinstatement.
These chemists, who are employed at FSDA laboratories across 18 divisions in the state, arrived with banners and posters to voice their concerns. They claim they were removed from their positions without any notice or written orders.
Gopal Rastogi, one of the affected chemists, stated, “We have been working as bench chemists since November 1, 2022, through outsourcing. In that time, we have processed over 700 samples each, demonstrating our experience. Now, with 347 new positions created, we have been told that we are being let go because new staff have been hired.”
He emphasized that their dismissal is not only unjust but also illegal under government regulations and the Industrial Disputes Act of 1947. Despite their repeated appeals, the government has not addressed their situation, prompting their demonstration at the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence.
Another chemist, Sushil Gautam, noted that they were dismissed just two days after the Chief Minister inaugurated a new corporation. “We were also working through outsourcing like employees in other departments. To be let go without notice right before the corporation’s implementation is unacceptable. We simply want to be reinstated in all laboratories and retained under the new corporation,” he remarked.
The protesting chemists have urged Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak to ensure their reinstatement across all 18 divisional laboratories and to continue their services under the newly established corporation.
