
Riyadh, June 8: The Indian Embassy in Riyadh hosted a captivating Indian classical music concert, highlighting the strong cultural ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
In collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the embassy organized the concert titled “Desert Harmony,” featuring the internationally renowned musician Shujaat Husain Khan.
On Sunday, the embassy shared on X, “A memorable cultural evening took place in Riyadh. The ‘Desert Harmony – Sitar Melodies’ event presented by the Indian Embassy introduced Saudi government officials, diplomats, members of the Indian community, and music lovers to the richness and warmth of Indian classical music.”
The embassy expressed gratitude for the stunning performance by the esteemed Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan. They noted that the evening showcased the strong cultural ties between India and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the unifying power of music.
Earlier this week, the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Suhail Khan, warmly welcomed Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan in Riyadh. The embassy stated on Friday, “Ambassador Dr. Suhail Khan warmly welcomed the internationally acclaimed sitar player Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan in Riyadh.”
The embassy also highlighted that this event promised a memorable evening of musical excellence and cultural exchange, further strengthening the friendship and appreciation between India and Saudi Arabia through the universal language of music.
The event took place on Friday at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh. Last year, India and Saudi Arabia signed an MoU on cultural cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Culture, “The MoU aims to enhance cultural relations between the two countries by promoting cooperation in various cultural fields such as art, heritage, music, and literature. It focuses on increasing cultural exchanges, sharing regulatory and policy experiences, and facilitating participation in festivals and events.”
