Indian Army Launches Awareness Campaign Against Drug Abuse in Jammu and Kashmir

Akhnur, May 21: The Indian Army has initiated a drug de-addiction awareness program at the Dori Dagar Higher Secondary School in Akhnur. During the event, soldiers educated students about the dangers of drug abuse and advised them to stay away from narcotics.

Following the program, student Anvi Sharma expressed her gratitude to the Indian Army during an interview with journalists. She stated, “The Indian Army organized an event at our school, where we learned about the importance of avoiding drugs. Drug abuse can lead to organ damage. I sincerely thank the Indian Army for their efforts.” Anvi also mentioned that the Army regularly conducts programs at schools while ensuring the security of the borders.

Another student, Sonia Sharma, in the 11th grade, shared her thoughts on the initiative. “The soldiers came to our school and informed us about the harmful effects of drugs. They explained that drug addiction can ruin families and damage body parts. I want to express my gratitude to the Army for this valuable information.”

Senior student Sonakshi Sharma from the 12th grade added, “Army officials visited our school to raise awareness against drug abuse. Whenever a campaign is launched, the Indian Army takes the time to motivate us. I thank the Indian Army for their dedication.”

This initiative aligns with the campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aiming to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free within 100 days. The Indian Army has previously assisted during operations such as Operation Sindoor and in times of flooding.
