Indian Army Chief Sets Vision for Future with Vijay Strategy

New Delhi, July 1: General Dheeraj Seth, the newly appointed Chief of the Indian Army, has expressed his commitment to transforming the army into a technologically advanced force, fully prepared for future challenges. This vision is encapsulated in a strategic concept named ‘Vijay,’ inspired by the Defense Minister’s declaration of a ‘Decade of Transformation.’ This framework will serve as the foundation for the Indian Army’s operational plans in the coming years.

During a ceremony held at the Ministry of Defense headquarters, General Seth received a Guard of Honor. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister and paid tribute to soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The current global and regional security landscape is rapidly evolving, presenting not only traditional challenges at borders but also new threats related to cyber, space, information, and technology.

In this context, it is essential to accelerate the modernization of the Indian Army with renewed determination. The Army Chief aims to transform the force into one that is technically proficient, prepared for multidimensional operations, and empowered at every level. He stated that the Indian Army is a ready and experienced military force, always equipped to face every challenge in the battlefield.

The first pillar of ‘Vijay’ is vigilance and combat readiness, which includes securing borders, continuously monitoring emerging threats, enhancing intelligence capabilities, and maintaining readiness for swift and effective responses in any situation. The Army’s objective is to sustain a high level of operational capability to tackle any security challenge. The second pillar focuses on innovation and transformation.

General Seth emphasized the need for modernization of weapons and changes in military doctrines, strategies, and operational methods in light of future battlefields. There will be a special emphasis on the increased use of AI, drones, autonomous systems, cyber capabilities, and advanced communication technologies. His strategy also prioritizes jointness and integration, focusing on better coordination among the three armed forces, enhancing joint operational capabilities, and more effective utilization of resources.

This approach is seen as aligning with the requirements of future integrated battlefields. Self-reliance is also a crucial aspect of his vision. Efforts will be intensified to meet the army’s needs domestically by promoting indigenous defense production, collaboration with local industries, and the use of Indian technologies. This will not only strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative but also benefit the national security framework.

General Seth highlighted that the soldiers are the Indian Army’s greatest strength, and he will prioritize their welfare, training, professional development, and morale. He believes that alongside modern equipment and technology, the confidence and capability of soldiers are the true power of the army. The new Army Chief reiterated his commitment to duty, honor, and the nation above all.

He stated that the Indian Army will continue to evolve in accordance with future needs while upholding its glorious traditions, always ready to defend the sovereignty and national interests of the country. He remarked that every soldier, from an Agniveer to the most senior veteran, is a warrior, and these warriors are the army’s greatest strength.
