New Delhi, August 16: Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth departed for an official visit to Nepal on Sunday. This trip is considered crucial for enhancing defense relations between India and Nepal. General Seth will participate in significant meetings and bilateral dialogues from August 17 to 19. His official visit will commence on August 17 and conclude on August 19.
The primary aim of this visit is to foster mutual understanding between the two nations, exchange views on various issues of shared interest, and strengthen bilateral defense and military cooperation. During his time in Nepal, General Seth will meet with senior military officials and other key representatives. Discussions are expected to cover existing defense cooperation, military relations, and matters of mutual interest.
India and Nepal have maintained close military ties for a long time. Regular joint military exercises, training programs, and high-level military exchanges have been a hallmark of their relationship. Such high-level visits play a vital role in enhancing cooperation between the two armed forces.
General Seth’s visit comes at a time when India is emphasizing the strengthening of defense and security cooperation with friendly nations. This trip could provide new momentum to the existing defense relations and open up new avenues for future collaboration.
Notably, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan also undertook an official visit to Mauritius earlier this week. On Wednesday, he met with Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam. During this meeting, they extensively discussed enhancing maritime security cooperation and increasing collaboration between the Indian Navy and the Mauritius National Coast Guard.
The discussions highlighted the importance of maritime security, training exchanges, information sharing arrangements, capacity building, and strengthening operational-level cooperation between the two navies.
With General Dheeraj Seth’s visit, there are hopes for further strengthening the traditional and robust defense ties between India and Nepal.
