New Delhi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to deliver the LCA Tejas FOC twin seater trainer aircraft and HTT-40 basic trainer planes to the Indian Air Force. The ceremony will take place on September 18 in Bengaluru, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu. This event is considered a milestone for the Indian aviation sector.
According to the Defence Ministry, the program will showcase the country’s indigenous aviation capabilities. It will feature homegrown aircraft for training and operations by Indian Air Force pilots, alongside Dhruv NG helicopters intended for the civilian sector. This highlights India’s growing capacity to manufacture aircraft and helicopters for both military and civilian applications.
The twin seater aircraft allows both an instructor and a trainee to be seated during training. The HTT-40 basic trainer is specifically designed for initial flight training. The Dhruv NG helicopters will be handed over to Pawan Hans Limited, promoting the role of indigenous helicopters in the civil aviation sector. Thus, this initiative goes beyond military needs, showcasing domestic technology and manufacturing capabilities for civil aviation.
The introduction of these platforms is another step towards strengthening the country’s indigenous design, development, and manufacturing capabilities. The government prioritizes promoting domestic technology and production in the aviation and defense industries. This aims to reduce reliance on foreign sources and establish a robust aviation and defense industry within the country.
The event will also highlight the growing capabilities of HAL and its industry partners. It aims to demonstrate that India is continuously expanding its ability to design, develop, and manufacture advanced aircraft and helicopters.
